The Body By Science Question and Answer Book

Product Description
Following publication of BODY BY SCIENCE, the public’s interest in Dr. Doug McGuff’s and John Little’s evidence-based approach to exercise has increased dramatically, with the result that hundreds of questions have been posed and answered at the authors’ various seminars, within magazine articles and on their website (www.bodybyscience.net). Such question-and-answer sessions provide an opportunity for the authors to expand on key points and principles within their book, as well as address important topics that were not included in BODY BY SCIENCE (such as rehabilitation issues, various training protocols, and long term health and safety issues). THE BODY BY SCIENCE QUESTION-AND-ANSWER BOOK is a companion volume to BODY BY SCIENCE that sheds additional light on the authors’ rational, science-based approach to strength training, bodybuilding, and total fitness. Within the pages of this new book you will learn: -Why (and how) strength training is the best way to rehabilitate most common injuries (from rotator cuff issues and knee replacements to lower back pain and arthritis). -Why bodybuilding is not what it seems. -Why athletics may not be the best route to health and fitness -The truth about VO2 Max testing and REAL cardiovascular health. -The realities of nutrition and the “insulin problem.” -How to optimize your workouts and ensure that your training facility is set up to maximize your progress. Plus answers to many more important questions on various aspects of health, fitness and strength.

This book is as described a great companion to BBS and is filled with questions and answer it is inline with the end sections of other books authored by John Little. The questions in the book a varied and run the gamut from “WHAT IS A CARBOHYDRATE?” to “MY PERSONAL TRAINER REEKS OF COLOGNE WHAT SHOULD I DO?” and pretty much all points in between, they are very concise but at times can get quite technical and for the layperson can be difficult to grasp due to the fact that there is no illustration. The book is well organized and broken down into seven sections as follows 1. Health and fitness 2. Bodybuilding 3. Special needs 4. Training 5. Nutrition 6. Athletics 7. Safety. Unlike the previous reviewer my edition has numbered pages. There are also notes to go along with most a the scientific claims in the back of the book. The books current price at $25 seems a bit steep especially being that BBS itself retails for under $14 but if someone is serious about training and knowledge on training it worth it but I wouldn’t be surprised if the books sees a price cut and a kindle editiion also if there going to be a sequel with some of John and Doug’s new discoveries, its a run away after all. I also look foward to reading Drew Bayes ebook when it is available. These gentlemen are honest and knowledgeable which is rare in the realm of health and fitness these days.

The title says it all. The content in this book is outstanding, and a great follow up to Body By Science. Unfortunately, despite a table of contents that lists chapters by page number, there are no numbers on the pages themselves, which makes it hard to find individual topics (it’s done in a FAQ format). I don’t understand the oversight, especially for this kind of book.
